"Wake up in the morning
Get to living my life
Making sure that I'm all that I can be
Went to church on Sunday
There was a moment that came
I swear it was like the Lord spoke right to me
So now I'm slowing it down and I'm looking around
And I'm lovin' this town and I'm doing alright
Ain't worried 'bout nothing except the man I wanna be
I'm thinking it's time to be livin' the rhyme
When I'm singing a song about nothing but right
And it'd sure be nice if you would roll with me
Saw a kid last winter only twenty years old
Being laid to rest while his mom stood by his side
Sure was hard to watch those tears roll down her face
Made me think how we all just have our time
Who knows what's ahead
I think I'd rather not know instead
So now I'm slowing it down and I'm looking around
And I'm lovin' this town and I'm doing alright
Ain't worried 'bout nothing except the man I wanna be
I'm thinking it's time to be livin' the rhyme
When I'm singing a song about nothing but right
And it's sure be nice if you would roll with me"
-Montgomery Gentry
What's God speaking to you?
Several themes from this current country song are noteworthy.
1) "Wake up in the morning
Get to living my life"
New beginnings.
Every day is a new beginning if you let it be.
His mercies, God's mercies, are new every morning. Lamentations 3:22-23
If you'll receive them.
2) "Went to church on Sunday"
Are you attending church?
Bible says forsake not the assembling of yourselves together. Hebrews 10:25
There's something special about gathering together, worshipping together, hearing God's Word together, praying together.
If you're not going to a church,
pray, ask Him to lead you to a place where you can fellowship with Him and with His people.
3) "I swear it was like the Lord spoke right to me"
I like this one.
You see God can and will and does speak right to you.
What an awesome thing it is!
The Living God, Creator of the universe, cares about you and me
and has a special word for us.
God is speaking. Are we listening?
After attending a funeral on the weekend I've been prompted to want to make my life count.
To somehow communicate God's love better to others.
I believe He'll show me clearly how to do this.
What's on your heart?
What desire do you have in regards to your relationship with Him and others?
4) "So now I'm slowing it down"
This is a no-brainer.
Life is too rushed.
We need to draw aside, spend time alone with Him, allow Him to minister to us.
May you experience His peace as you read this.
Say this,
"He is my peace who has broken down every wall.
He is my peace. He is my peace.
Casting all my care on Him for He careth for me
He is my peace. He is my peace." 1 Peter 5:7
"Who knows what's ahead"
I know not what the future holds, goes one old song,
but I know Who holds the future.
