Listening to God

There were a lot of requests made at prayer tonight!

And God wants us to bring them to Him.

But how often do we just do that and not listen for what He might speak to us?

We should be actively, consciously asking,

"Lord, what do You want to say to me?"

Before prayer there was talk about the sovereignty of God.

Some people might look at all that's happening in the world

and say that God must be thinking, "There's nothing I can do!"

Or they might be questioning, "Why doesn't God answer?"

Truth is God does answer,

just not always in the way we expect,

but He does answer.

And He is all powerful.

Here's one thing I heard Him say to me tonight...

What is impossible with man is possible with God. Matthew 19:26

How does God speak to us?

Through our human conscience,

through His created world,

through our spirit responding to his Spirit.

He can 'speak' thoughts into our mind.

The witness of the Holy Spirit - e.g. inner peace.

He speaks through other people.

Spiritual gifts, such as prophecy, tongues, interpretation of tongues, wisdom, knowledge, discernment of spirits.

Dreams and visions.

His written word, the Bible.

And the primary revelation of God - his Son Jesus Christ.

He is speaking.

Are we listening?
