Don't Settle For Less Than God Wants

At the youth center.

Asking for increase.

Asking for release.

Asking for people by name.

This is something the leader suggested earlier.

We picked up on it later in the prayer room.

Asking God to move in not "the young people",

but asking Him specifically to move in

R----, A-----, K----, K-----, E--------, K---, J-----, B--, J--, E-, Z---, J----, L----.

How are we going to know when God answers our prayers if we're not specific?

Also...

I had this picture of little lights going off in the darkness.

In the context of crying out to God to move,

this picture was an encouragement that something is happening in the spirit realm.

Oftentimes we think nothing is happening

when in actual fact God is moving by His Spirit.

I love the story of Elisha and his servant...

And he answered, Fear not:

for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.

And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man;

and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 2 Kings 6:16-18

O God, open our eyes so that we can see.

Our prayers are not in vain!

Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this story:

"Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight,

wanting to borrow three loaves of bread.

You say to him,

‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’

And suppose he calls out from his bedroom,

‘Don’t bother me.

The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.’

But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake,

if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need

because of your shameless persistence.

"And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.

Keep on seeking, and you will find.

Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds.

And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

"You fathers—if your children ask for a fish,

do you give them a snake instead?

Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not!

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children,

how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him."
