But you, man of God, flee from all this,

and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

Fight the good fight of faith.

Take hold of and hold tightly to the eternal life

to which you were called

when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world,

to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 1 Peter 2:11

I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims,

I warn you as "temporary residents and foreigners"

to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.

"If you desire to become a man or woman of God:

Have you spent time on your knees beseeching God that Christ be formed in you?

Have you longed in your soul to become a real follower of God who walks in the Spirit?

If you have not been obsessed with your desire to be a man or woman of God,

then you have missed the mark entirely.

Because your heart and your lips should cry out, "Jesus, make me into Your own image! Let me become Your bondslave!" "
