The Secret Wisdom of God

The Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom.

but we preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 1 Corinthians 1:22

If a preacher is not careful, he will get in the way of the gospel instead of being a servant of the gospel.

They can obscure Jesus by their preaching, either in the presentation or the message.

Like the little girl, who when a smaller man was guest speaking could finally see the stained glass window of Jesus behind the pulpit said,

"Where’s the man who usually stands there so we can’t see Jesus?"

Why did "the rulers of this age" fail to recognize God’s wisdom? 1 Corinthians 2:6

Because it came in a mystery; a "sacred secret" that could only be known by revelation.

Not in enticing words of man's wisdom,

but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. 1 Corinthians 2:4

That you might trust the power of God rather than human wisdom. 1 Corinthians 2:5

No eye has seen, no ear has heard,

and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.

But we know these things

because God has revealed them to us by His Spirit,

and the Spirit searches out everything

and shows us even God's deep secrets. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10

The deep things of God. We know these things. How?

No one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit.

And God has actually given us His Spirit (not the world's spirit)

so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

When we tell you this,

we do not use words of human wisdom.

We speak words given to us by the Spirit,

using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths. 1 Corinthians 2:12-13

Explaining spiritual truths in spiritual language.

But people who aren't Christians can't understand these truths from God's Spirit.

It all sounds foolish to them

because only those who have the Spirit can understand what the Spirit means.

We who have the Spirit understand these things,

but others can't understand us at all. How could they?

But we can understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

Would you like to have the mind of Christ?

It's no accident that you've come to this site, maybe for the first time.

Having the mind of Christ, understanding the gospel, is only a prayer away.

First you need to confess your need.

You've messed up. I've messed up. We've all messed up.

Bible calls it sin.

And we need a Savior to free us from this burden of sin.

Lord, I confess I've sinned against You.

I turn away from the life I've been living, the one where I've been in control of me.

It's not working. I need help.

I understand that you died on a cross to set me free and to put me in right relationship with God.

I accept what Jesus did on my behalf...dying for me, a sinner.

Thank for doing that, Jesus.

Now, I invite You to come into my life, to become the Boss of me.

I'm surrendering to You.

You've got such a better plan for my life than I could ever imagine.

Would You begin to teach me Your ways

that I might live a life pleasing to You.

If you prayed this prayer and really meant it, you will start to notice some changes.
