The Calling

I Corinthians 1:1-16.

We're sanctified in Christ Jesus.

Made holy by means of Jesus Christ, who He is and what he did.

Then, having been made holy, we are called to be holy.

Living a life separated from all the filth of the world.

At the same time living in the world, so it's a challenge, but...

We're thankful for the grace of God given us in Christ Jesus.

The unmerited favor.

The divine enabling.

For that is what grace is.

Two pronged.

Favor, i.e. acceptance and blessing.

And the power to live this life we're called to.

We are enriched by Him.

Enriched in all speaking and in all knowledge.

Which is good because we sure do like to talk!

And we have an insatiable thirst for knowledge.

In fact we come behind in no gift.

We do not lack any spiritual gift we need.

We have everything we need!

Now!

In Him.

Then it says something that kind of slaps me in the face...

As we eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. (NLT)

NIV says "revealing".

NASB says "revelation".

KJV says "coming".

Am I eagerly awaiting His return/revealing/revelation/coming?

And what exactly does that mean?

Has to do with end times though, because it says,

He will keep you strong right up to the end.

Blameless in "the day of our Lord Jesus Christ".

God will surely do this for you, why?

He always does just what He says.

God is faithful!

And He's the One who has invited (called) us

into wonderful fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Then Paul gets right into it.

I beseech you, I appeal to you, I exhort you...

Stop arguing!

Agree with one another! Speak the same thing!

Let there be no divisions among you.

Be perfectly joined together,

be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Be perfectly united in mind and thought.

United in thought and purpose.

This in a day and age when it's said of the church...

They will know we are Christians by our...

fighting.

Is Christ divided?

Can He be divided into pieces?

It's a rhetorical question.

The answer is, No! He cannot be divided.

And neither should we, His people, be.

Remember we are enriched.

He's given us all we need to do all He's called us to be and do.
