Hey, despite what Brian McLaren writes, it's really not all that secret.

Jesus was betrayed and put to death because of our misdeeds

and was raised from the dead to secure our justification,

our acquittal,

making our account balance and absolving us from all guilt before God.

The sacrificed Jesus made us fit for God, set us right with God. Romans 4:25

Therefore...

What's the "therefore" there for?

Since we are justified, acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God

through faith,

let us grasp the fact that we have the peace of reconciliation

to hold and to enjoy peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through Him also we have access by faith into this grace in which we firmly and safely stand. Romans 5:1-2

We have direct access to God through the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 2:18

While we were still sinners Christ died for us! Romans 5:8

We are now justified and through Jesus we have received reconciliation. Romans 5:9-11

There is no longer a question of being at odds with God in any way.

If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son,

now that we're at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life!

"At our best" ?
