A New Way of Living

Get your minds ready for action.
Think straight.
Be sober, alert, self-controlled.
Keep a clear head.

Place your hope completely on the grace
that will be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:13
Grace is two things:-
Unmerited favor and divine enablement.
It's only by the divine enablement meaning can we do 1 Peter 1:14...

Do not conform yourselves to the evil desires
that governed you in your former ignorance
when you did not know the requirements of the Gospel.

Behave like obedient children.

Don’t let your lives be controlled by your desires, as they used to be.

In the past you did not have the understanding you have now,
so you did the evil things you wanted to do.

But now you are children of God,
so you should obey Him and not live the way you did before.

Don’t slip back into your old ways—
doing evil because you knew no better.
Doing just what you feel like doing.

You didn’t know any better then; you do now.

Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires.

Be like obedient children
as you put aside the desires you used to pursue
when you didn’t know better.

1 Peter 1:16 For it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
And if you call upon Him as [your] Father
Who judges each one impartially according to what he does,
then you should conduct yourselves with true reverence
throughout the time of your temporary residence. 1 Peter 1:17

18 For you know that it was not with perishable things
such as silver or gold
that you were redeemed
from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,
19 but with the precious blood of Christ,
a lamb without blemish or defect.

20 He was chosen before the creation of the world,
but was revealed in these last times for your sake.
21 Through him you believe in God,
who raised him from the dead and glorified him,
and so your faith and hope are in God.
23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed,
but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
