Some thoughts over the holiday period...
(They) have set up idols in their hearts. Ezekiel 14:3-4, 7
Idols in the house of Israel. Ezekiel 18:6
Each of you get rid of the vile images
you have set your eyes on,
and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. Ezekiel 20:7
Do not be deceived:
...idolaters
will not inherit the kingdom of God.
And that is what some of you were.
But you were washed, you were sanctified,
you were justified
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ
and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Do not be idolaters. 1 Corinthians 10:7
What are our idols?
Those things that come between us and the Lover of our souls.
I saw reference to this...
The Christian Atheist -
Believing in God but living
as if He doesn't exist.
Pause to reflect.
How we need a move of God in our lives.
A new depth of walking with Him.
Calling on Him not just when there's a need.
Rather needing Him for Who He is.
John Piper defines Christian hedonism
as "God is most glorified in us
when we are most satisfied in Him."
Who can we turn to?
I manned a "Need To Talk Room"
at a New Year's Eve youth function.
An exciting opportunity to listen
and gently point young people to the Lord.
You don't have to do life alone.
He is our very present help in time of need.
And all the other times too.
We're weak, but He is strong.
Open our eyes to see more of You, Lord.
