Dealing With the Big D

I will bring you out from under

the yoke of the Egyptians, i.e. the world system.

I will free you from being slaves to them.

I will free you from your oppression.

I will redeem you. Buy you back.

I will take you as my own people.

I will bring you to the land I swore to give you.

I will give it to you.

But they did not listen to Him,

because of their discouragement and cruel bondage. Exodus 6:6-9

Listen to the verbs...

"bring you out from under,

free you,

redeem you,

take you,

bring you to,

give to you."

Then the saddest seven words...

"But they did not listen to Him".

Why didn't they?

"Because of their discouragement and cruel bondage."

I see here a promise and a failure to appropriate that promise.

We know people...maybe we ourselves have been those people

for whom discouragement and bondage are major obstacles to enjoying freedom in God.

That's where we come in with the message of hope.

It says "through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures

we might have hope." Romans 15:4

God gives endurance and encouragement, as we follow Christ. Romans 15:5

Here's some encouragement from the Scriptures...

You have turned my mourning into dancing;

Are YOU mourning?

You have removed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness...

why?

that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. Psalm 30:11-12

May the God of hope fill you (right now)

with all joy and peace

as you trust in Him,

so that you may overflow with hope

by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Let Him bring you out from under

and bring you in

to all the good things He has promised in His Word.
