"You won't advance spiritually unless you obey the call to prayer."

I'm being challenged more and more.

Wednesday night corporate prayer at church = not enough.

Friday night prayer at the youth centre = not enough.

Spotty prayer at home and on the run = definitely not enough.

Time to hit the floor.

On your knees.

Key - Do it early.

Devil says wait till later.

Flesh agrees.

Chances of it not happening later are very good.

Key - Hang in there.

Persist in prayer.

It's like a conversation with a friend.

(Because it IS a conversation with a Friend. Duh!)

With your earthly friend, do you really get into the deep stuff right off?

Of course not.

There are the preliminaries.

"How have you been?"

"What's up with you?"

Chit chat paves the way to...

"OK, what's REALLY happening in your life?"

Same with our heavenly Friend.

Take time to clear the cobwebs.

Jacob wrestled all night.

He hung in there for the blessing.

We ought to hang in there till we hear from heaven.

Key - Not a form/ritual.

May seem that way at the start.

Don't let that sway you from getting into the REAL prayer time.

Key - It's a journey to a new frontier.

And that's exciting.

When's the last time you heard "prayer" and "excitement" in the same sentence?

Key - Expect.

If you don't expect something in your prayer time, you'll probably get nothing.

What's the "something" you're after?

A peace in your heart that you've met with the Lord.

That He's heard you and, more importantly, you've heard Him.

Speaker at church said,

"Believe Him for the impossible.

Believe Him NOW.

He can see the way when we can't."
