Spiritual Weight Loss

Ever had to lay something down

and sometime later God resurrects it?

Or not.

Laying down is part and parcel of the Christian walk.

After all...we're His servants/slaves.

The emptying of self.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God,

did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

but made Himself nothing,

taking the very nature of a servant,

being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man,

He humbled himself

and became obedient to death—

even death on a cross! Philippians 2:5-8

This self-emptying is called "kenosis" by the Greek scholars.

Stripping away everything till all that's left is Him.

Dropping off the excess baggage.

The pulls.

The distractions.

The idols.

Learning to travel light in this life.

"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the Lord.

"And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine." Isaiah 55:9

Here's a plan...

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

Talk to God about what is going on in your life.

Seek Him first.

Closet time.

Let the Spirit roll over you.

Spirit cleansing.

Persevere in prayer.

To effect change, cry out in prayer.

Let all the garbage rise to the top.

Let it be washed away.

Things become clearer on our knees.

Call on Him now while he is near. Isaiah 55:6
There are days
when I feel
The best of me
is ready to begin (the end)
Then there's (the) days
when I feel
I'm letting go
and soaring on the wind
'Cause I've learned in laughter or in pain
How to survive!

I get on my knees!
There I am before the Love
That changes me
See I don't know how
But there's power
When I'm on my knees

I can be
in a crowd
Or by myself
and almost anywhere
When I feel
there's a need
To talk with God
He is Emmanuel
When I close my eyes,
no darkness there
There's only light!

I get on my knees
There I am before the Love that changes me
See I don't know how, but there's power
In the blue skies, in the midnight
When I'm on my knees
I get on my knees
There I am before the Love
That changes me
See I don't know how, but there's power
When I'm on my, oh, when I'm on my
When I'm on my knees
