Global Day of Prayer

Lord, Your Word says, "The righteous care about justice for the poor." (Proverbs 28:7)

Forgive us for living in a bubble and thinking the rest of the world lives like we do.

We pray for people around us who are in financial need.

We ask You to make us aware of people living in poverty around us

and help us assist these people.

Break the patterns of poverty here in our community and around the world.

We pray for provision of basic needs such as food, water, shelter and health care for the poor.

Lord, billions suffer the effects of famine and drought.

They are homeless, hungry, and helpless. They’re ill. Show us what we can do.

Help us to not ignore these people. Help us to care for the sick.

You, Lord, restored health to people who came to You, those with sickness or disease. (Matthew 4:23-24, NLT)

And You are the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

You ARE the Lord that heals us.

Lord, we pray for healing, strength, comfort, and peace for those who are physically suffering.

Help us act with compassion and perseverance to see diseases eradicated in Jesus' Name.

Lord, there are wars and rumours of wars just like You said there would be.

We look forward to the time when swords will be beaten into plowshares.

Lord, we cry out to You for this warring world we live in.

We pray for protection and a safe return for our troops in places like Afghanistan.

Lord, sweep over that land. Sweep over other trouble spots.

Your Word says, "If possible... if possible,

so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men."

That is our prayer, O God.

We recognize that we wrestle not against people.

The fight is with spiritual forces.

We thank You for the mighty weapons You have given to us Your church.

Weapons like prayer that are mighty for the pulling down of strongholds.

We come against the warring spirit in this world, in Jesus' Name.

May Your reign, O Prince of peace, be extended, in Jesus' Name.
