What would Jesus do?
Many Christians box up Jesus with do’s and don’ts.
They attempt to live like Jesus by predicting what Jesus would have done in a similar situation.
They try to live a so called "Christ-like" life by imitating his actions.
What would Jesus do?
Jesus would die for our sins and forgive them all.
Can you die for our sins?
You can die, but the sins won’t be forgiven.
What would Jesus do?
He would give life to all humanity,
and give them a new identity where they are made holy enough for God.
Can you make yourself holy enough for God?
Never by your deeds...
That is why we need Jesus,
because Jesus did what we could never do.
Some people might say, "But, yes, of course, I know Jesus died for my sins.
Now what should I do?"
They focus on themselves instead of on Jesus.
Your works are worthless if they are not done through Christ.
"I am the vine, you are the branches.
If a man remains in me and I in him,
he will bear much fruit;
apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:5
So how do you do works through Christ?
When the reality of Jesus and his gospel hits you,
you will be filled.
Once you are filled,
you will bear God’s fruit.
Do you yourself do any of the work to produce the fruit?
No.
God does the work.
Just be filled!
Stop focusing on copying Jesus’ actions,
and focus on grasping the magnitude of what Jesus has done.
Jesus healed lepers, raised the dead, and gave sight to the blind.
How did Jesus do it?
He did what you and I should be doing.
He had faith in God and abided in God,
thus God bore fruit through him.
Be filled with the reality of Jesus.
Stop trying to do what Jesus did because imitating His actions will get you no where
and you’ll be missing out on the main point.
Look to what He has done.
The question should not be, "What would Jesus do?"
The question should be, "What has Jesus done?"
