When Disaster Strikes...

A record-breaking 13.5 inches of rain fell in Nashville Saturday and Sunday.

Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts tweeted,

"Everyone please pray for Nashville."

Little Big Town made a plea to their fans:

"So much flooding here ... so many friends having trouble.

Praying for everyone's safety."

Reba McEntire said,

"Lots of prayers are going up for everyone affected by the weather.

I've never seen this much rain and water!!!"

Jo Dee Messina was trying to get back to Nashville from Chicago on Sunday.

She tweeted,

"Landed to a flooded Nashville.

[Bandmember] Robby's wife just got pulled from her car in water.

Their car is gone, [but] she is safe.

Thank God.

Trying to get home."

Jo Dee and her family finally got home --

it took three hours from the Nashville airport to their home south of Nashville -- to a flooded home.

James Otto tweeted,

"I'm worried about my city!

I wonder what will be gone when I get back?

I left two days ago, and it seemed not a worry in sight.

Pray for Nashville!"

"We need your prayers," Julie Roberts says of Nashville and the surrounding area.

"It looks pretty disastrous for myself, my neighbors and everyone in that area of Nashville."

Julie, her mother, sister, and the family's four dogs were all trapped by rapidly rising flood waters.

Rescuers had to evacuate Julie, her family and their pets from the second floor of their Nashville home.

The daily verse tweeted today...

Proverbs 2:1-5 –

turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding...

It doesn't take much understanding when people are in trouble.

And yet we seem so far removed from many of the disasters.

28 are reported dead so far in three states, a result of the weekend flooding.

Let's remember the families and the other people who are trying to put their lives back together.

May this bad occurrence be an opportunity for many to turn to God,

relying on Him to see them through the bad times

and the good.

God will make a way

Where there seems to be no way

He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me

He will be my guide

Hold me closely to His side

With love and strength

For each new day

He will make a way

He will make a way

By a roadway in the wilderness

He'll lead me

And rivers in the desert will I see

Heaven and earth will fade

But His Word will still remain

He will do something new today
