Christian Commentary Encouraging Devotions

I will not be getting into the pros and cons.

Here's the deal. Going beyond Afghanistan...

if we don't recognize that we're in a battle,

we're already dead in the water.

It's a spiritual battle.

We wrestle not against flesh and blood...

our struggle isn't against people...

but against principalities, against powers,

against the rulers of darkness of this world,

against spiritual wickedness in high places,

the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

Why am I hesitant to bring it up at prayer meeting?

That we're in a battle.

Because the enemy doesn't want us even considering the fact that there's a war going on.

He's virtually got free rein if we're not calling on God's intervention.

Prayed last night for the youth meeting at our church...

that something divine would happen,

that there would be an intersection of the divine and the mundane.

Pushing back the darkness.

Whose power is greater?

God's.

O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty!

Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in You alone.

It is in Your Name that we have come against this vast horde.

O Lord our God; do not let mere men prevail against You!" 2 Chronicles 14:11

We know God works a lot in the unseen realm.

Asking Him for more in the seen realm.

Get a grip on our hearts.

Many are believing a lie.

Coming directly from the father of lies, John 8:44,

to the effect that he, Satan, doesn't exist.

That he, the devil, is not influencing what's going on in the world.

The enemy uses self-deception, false prophets/teachers and deceiving spirits.

We need to clothe ourselves daily with the spiritual armor, the belt of truth.

Lord, we put on the belt of truth of Your Word today

and we stand against the deception of the enemy.

Transform us.

Help us be desperate for You and Your truth.

Help us to do the warfare You want us to do (key point)

with all the weaponry You have provided.

He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness

and transferred us into the kingdom of His dear Son, Jesus. Colossians 1:13
