Get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give. Joshua 1:2
There's a preparation to be done first..."get ready".
There's a crossing of a river, i.e. some barrier, some in-between stage.
There's a recognition that whatever's coming will be given to you.
God is a great Giver.
All we have to do is trust and obey.
There is "land" that He has for each one of us.
I will give you every place where you set your foot. Joshua 1:3
Do you have faith for that?
No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. Joshua 1:5
I will be with you;
I will never leave you nor forsake you.
This is a tremendous promise for you and me.
God says, and God doesn't lie,
I will be with you;
I will never leave you nor forsake you.
None of us knows what lies ahead.
Just as the light of God will shine brighter and brighter toward the end of time,
so darkness will increase.
This one thing we can hold fast to...
I will be with you;
I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Be strong and very courageous.
Be careful to obey all the law, i.e. the Bible;
do not turn from it to the right or to the left,
that you may be successful wherever you go.
Do not let this Book of the Law (the Bible) depart from your mouth;
meditate on it day and night,
so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.
Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be terrified;
do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:7-9
"When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God,
i.e. the Presence of the Lord,
you are to move out from your positions and follow it.
Then you will know which way to go,
since you have never been this way before. Joshua 3:3-4
I like that...you have never been this way before.
"Do not be afraid;
do not be discouraged.
Be strong and courageous.
This (what is written in the previous verses) is what the Lord will do
to all the enemies you are going to fight." Joshua 10:25
Remember, our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies,
but against the rulers,
against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world
and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12
And God promises us victory over all our enemies if we wage war His way.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
On the contrary,
they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4
We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons,
to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.
There are still very large areas of land to be taken over. Joshua 13:1
The Lord gave them rest on every side,
just as he had sworn to their forefathers.
Not one of their enemies withstood them;
the Lord handed all their enemies over to them.
Not one of all the Lord's good promises failed;
every one was fulfilled. Joshua 21:44-45
Be very strong;
be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law, the Bible,
without turning aside to the right or to the left. Joshua 23:6
