When the Lord your God
brings you into the land you are entering to possess
and drives out before you many nations
and when the Lord your God has delivered them over to you
and you have defeated them,
then you must destroy them totally.
Make no treaty with them,
and show them no mercy. Deuteronomy 7:1-2
This is what you are to do to them:
Break down...smash...
cut down... and burn. Deuteronomy 7:5
Sure, it's talking about nations,
but I believe it's also talking about the things we battle.
Spiritual things.
God brings us out to bring us in.
He drives out the enemy.
What has been gained, we have to maintain.
And it's a struggle.
The enemy is a defeated foe.
Remember that.
Apply that knowledge.
The power of the cross.
The power of the blood.
But the land has to be possessed.
And we must war to do it.
Not, of course, as the world wars.
It was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath He swore to your forefathers
that He brought you out with a mighty hand
and redeemed you from the land of slavery,
from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Deuteronomy 7:8
He is the faithful God,
keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those
who love Him and keep His commands. Deuteronomy 7:9
Here'a great promise...
The Lord will keep you free from every disease. Deuteronomy 7:15
Do we really believe this?
The Lord will keep you free from every disease.
No harm will befall you,
No disaster, no plague, will come near your tent. Psalm 91:10
Do not be terrified by them, the enemy,
for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God.
The Lord your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little. Deuteronomy 7:21-22
The Lord your God is bringing you into a good land-
a land where you will lack nothing. Deuteronomy 8:7-9
Be assured today...
be assured!...
that the Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire.
He will destroy them; He will subdue them before you.
And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly,
as the Lord has promised you. Deuteronomy 9:3
What does the Lord your God ask of you
but to fear the Lord your God,
to walk in all His ways, to love Him,
to serve the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul,
and to observe the Lord's commands and decrees. Deuteronomy 10:12-13
If you carefully observe all these commands—
to love the Lord your God,
to walk in all His ways and to hold fast to Him-
then the Lord will drive out all these nations before you,
and you will dispossess nations larger and stronger than you.
Every place where you set your foot will be yours.
No man will be able to stand against you.
See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse-
the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today;
the curse if you disobey. Deuteronomy 11:22-28
Now, let's take the following and see the enemy be routed!
Today you are going into battle against your enemies.
Do not be fainthearted or afraid;
do not be terrified or give way to panic before them.
For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory. Deuteronomy 20:3-4
