Phil.4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.(KJV)
I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need. (NLT)
Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. (MSG)
But just how does this "kick in"?
1) Acknowledge your need of Him. It always starts with confession of need. The 12 Step Program knows that well and they're right. Declaring this need, out loud, reinforces it.
2) Ask Him. Psalm 120:1 I'm in trouble. I cry to GOD, desperate for an answer. (NIV) In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.(KJV) In my trouble I cried to the LORD, and He answered me. (NASB) I took my troubles to the LORD;I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.(NLT)
3) Believe that you've received. (Ya gotta, you know.) And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us. And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 1 John 5:14,15 (KJV)
And we can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. And if we know he is listening when we make our requests, we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for. (NLT)
And how bold and free we then become in his presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he's listening. And if we're confident that he's listening, we know that what we've asked for is as good as ours.(MSG)
4) Feelings. Can't count on them. Can't trust them.
5) This one's from my wife... Do YOUR part. If it's a test you have to take...you need to study for it. Give God something to work with. Comprendo?
6) Keep on praying till you get into "that zone". Worship Him. Sing in the Spirit. Meditate on His Word.
7) Quiet yourself. Picture this...His arms are strong. Let Him carry you.
I believe that if you follow these directions you'll reap some fantastic results.
John 21:6 "Throw the net off the right side of the boat and see what happens," Jesus said.
They did what he said. All of a sudden there were so many fish in it, they weren't strong enough to pull it in. (NIV)
Do what He's prompting you to do. See what happens.
