"Many of today's churches have forsaken their first love and turned from the Lord.
They serve the people more than God.
Too often they are a social circle or a place to meet but not a place to worship, to pray and to seek the God of our fathers."
christianity.ca says,
"Revival deals with existing deadness within the church membership, rather than conversion of outsiders or non-members. Its focus is believers whose love for the Father has been diminished by sin. Its goal is the return of the full presence of God to His people as they repent of their sin and return to Him.
Revival is different than spiritual awakening. Spiritual awakening refers to large numbers of unsaved people becoming aware of God and of their need for Christ as their personal Saviour. As God's people experience revival, God in His sovereignty begins to awaken the lost to their spiritual condition and draws them to Himself and into His churches."
Here's one of the problems...
My spirit is overwhelmed within me.
I am losing all hope;
I am paralyzed with fear.
The cause?
My enemy has chased me.
He has knocked me to the ground.
He forces me to live in darkness like those in the grave.
The solution?
I remember the days of long ago;
I meditate on all Your works
and consider what Your hands have done.
I thirst for You as a parched land thirsts for the rain.
I stretch out my hands to You.
Let me hear of Your unfailing love to me in the morning.
I am trusting in You.
Show me the way I should go,
for I have come to You in prayer.
Teach me to do Your will.
In Your righteousness, bring me out of this distress.
Prayer.
The church needs prayer.
For revival inside the church.
For awakening outside.
