On our recent time away, I immersed myself in John and Acts. Acts 1:8 says, You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses. Be witnesses, not do witnessing. By the power of the Holy Spirit. And that power sure is evident in the Book of Acts! They devoted themselves steadfastly to prayer. The Amplified says, "waiting together". Acts 1:14 Corporate prayer's so important, but how many show up for the weekly prayer meeting? Moving on... He is at my right hand that I may not be shaken or overthrown or cast down. My flesh will rest in hope. Acts 2:25-26 Devoting themselves constantly to prayer. Acts 2:42 We cannot help telling what we have seen and heard. Acts 4:20 Grant to Your bondservants full freedom to declare Your message fearlessly while You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the Name of Jesus. Acts 4:29-30 If it is of God, you will not be able to stop or overthrow or destroy them. Acts 6:39 Devote (y)ourselves steadfastly to prayer. Acts 6:4 Do you really understand what you are reading? Acts 8:30 I should not call any human being common or unhallowed or unclean. Acts 10:28 God shows no partiality and is no respecter of persons, But in every nation he who has a fear for God is acceptable to Him. Acts 10:34-35 Fervent prayer for him (Peter) was persistently made to God by the church. Acts 12:5 There's corporate prayer again. We bring you the good news that you should turn away from foolish and vain things to the living God. Acts 14:15 Stand firm in the faith. Acts 14:22 We should not put obstacles in the way of those who turn to God. Acts 15:19 And here's the sobering thought... The churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in number day after day. Acts 16:5 They increased in number day after day. We are not seeing that where I live. What are we seeing? Lost people heading to a Christless eternity. Are we, the church, doing enough? Join me in prayer asking God for the answer. Maybe we need a fresh anointing. A fresh outpouring from on high. Or maybe we need to exercise the power and authority we already have...
