John 18:37 "You say that I am a king, and you are right," Jesus said. "I was born for that purpose. And I came to bring truth to the world. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true." (NLT) That was Jesus' goal. The truth that He brought was that we're sinners in need of a Lord (King) and Savior, a role He fulfilled completely at Calvary.
And then he told them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere." Mark 16:15 (NLT) That's the goal He's given us...to go and tell. Our pastor this morning said, "If you're not compelled to tell...have you really found it?" How compelled are we, am I, to share the Good News that'll set you free and give true meaning and purpose in life. As long as I have lived next door to our neighbors...how come I haven't told them yet? Is "waiting for the right moment" a cop out? Jesus didn't say, "Go into all the world... when it's convenient for you, when you've mustered up enough courage, and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere."
There is an evil in the land called the Landmark Forum which is "specifically designed to bring about positive and permanent shifts in the quality of your life. These shifts are the direct cause for a new and unique kind of freedom and power. The freedom to be absolutely at ease no matter where you are, who youre with, or what the circumstance the power to be in action effectively in those areas that are important to you."
They are offering false hope. Jesus said it clearly that He alone is the Way, the Truth, the Life. You just can't have true freedom apart from Him.
The fact that people involved in this Landmark "training" are so enthusiastic about telling others about it is troubling to me. We who believe in Jesus have the Truth. Are we so compelled to tell? Lord, have mercy on us.
