The Cry of God

I was struck the other night at the prayer meeting by the word "deeper". We were meditating on Ephesians 1:15-19.

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, ...spiritual wisdom and insight so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

Stop! Read that again!

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand... The hope, the riches, the power, the incomparably great power. His incomparably great power.

Unfortunately, though, we read in Psalm 53:2-3, God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; He looks to see if anyone is truly wise, to see if there are any who understand. if anyone seeks God. But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! Not even one.

God wants to take us deeper. Deeper in faith. Deeper in love. Deeper in the knowledge of Him. Will we respond to His drawing?
