I've had many tears and sorrows,
I've had questions for tomorrow,
There've been times I didn't know right from wrong:
But in every situation God gave blessed consolation
That my trials come to only make me strong.
Through it all, through it all,
I've learned to trust in Jesus,
I've learned to trust in God;
Through it all, through it all,
I've learned to depend upon His Word.
I thank God for the mountains,
And I thank Him for the valleys,
I thank Him for the storms
He brought me through;
For if I'd never had a problem
I wouldn't know that He could solve them,
I'd never know what faith in God could do.
Through it all, through it all,
I've learned to trust in Jesus,
I've learned to trust in God;
Through it all, through it all,
I've learned to depend upon His Word. - Ray Boltz
1) You have done many good things for me, Lord,
just as You promised.
Can you list some things right now , some good things the Lord has done?
I can think of ten, soon to be eleven, people who are close to me.
They are just some of the good things the Lord has done for me.
2) Teach me good judgment (or discernment) and knowledge
for I believe in your commands.
Discernment is one of the things I desire more of.
To be able to know what's right and wrong in any given situation.
And more than that, to be able to size people up.
To discern what's with them for the purpose of being able to help them.
Psalm 119 is all about His commandments.
Here we see a direct connection between good judgment and knowledge
and His commandments.
3) I used to wander off until You disciplined me.
Before I was afflicted I went astray.
But now I keep Your word.
4) You are good and do only good.
That's God's character displayed in action.
He is good and He does good things.
Teach me Your principles.
5) Arrogant people have made up lies about me.
They have smeared me with lies.
But I obey Your commandments with all my heart.
6) The suffering You sent was good for me,
for it taught me to pay attention to Your principles.
It was good for me to be afflicted
so that I might learn Your principles.
Can you and I say that?!
It was good for me to be afflicted!
Now that's seeing the big picture!
7) Your law is more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver!
