Why do we do what we do?
I've talked about this before.
I like doing this website/blog/whatever because it helps me focus on what I'm reading in the Bible and "hearing" at prayer meetings.
It disciplines me, somewhat.
It's not a daily exercise for me.
Striving to produce something daily makes for ruts, weariness, and staleness.
So, kind of a selfish motive, right? Doing it for me.
I'm hoping, though, that it will stimulate something in you.
From Philippians 2, I spent 2 months trying to flesh out this...
In lowliness of mind, let each esteem other better than themselves.
So, it's not all about me.
It's about you too.
And, I know, it's really, essentially, all about Him.
Presenting...Jesus.
Who, btw (by the way), is coming back!.
"Watch out that no one deceives you," said Jesus. Mark 13:5-12
Wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, famines.
Handed over. Flogged.
Arrested. Brought to trial.
Hated by all men.
But he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
So, there is to be an end of things as we know it.
Jesus says in Mark 13:32-37 that no one knows that day or hour.
But He also clearly says we can know the season.
Learn this lesson from the fig tree:
As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out,
you know that summer is near.
Even so, when you see these things happening,
you will know that it is near, right at the door.
So, what are we supposed to be doing in the meantime, in the in-between time?
Jesus says, "Be on guard! Be alert! Watch!" Mark 13:33-37
In Gethsemane he said to Peter,
"Could you not keep watch for one hour?
Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.
The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." Mark 14:37-38
So, another motive for this site...to be a warning.
Watch!
