How do you read your Bible?
I read till I "get something".
Till something leaps off the page at me.
Rhema, it's called. Quickened word.
God speaking.
Take today. OK.
I'm doing "The One Year Bible". For the third time.
Not against plans, but sometimes you can be just working the plan, know what I mean?
No life. Time for a change. Refocus.
Step 1. Pray. "Lord, looking to you to speak to me through your living word."
Ezekiel 35:1-15. Judgment.
Ezekiel 36:1-24. More judgment.
Then Ezekiel 36:25-27.
"Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations." (NLT)
Exactly what I needed! A new heart with new and right desires when it comes to reading and heeding His Word.
Then James 1:2-4.
When troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing, ready for anything.
Ready for anything!
Like work later today. Like the ministry opportunity later today. Anything!
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation.
And Psalm 116:6
The Lord protects those of childlike faith.
See, God speaks. God encourages.
Now, go read His Word direct to and for you.
