Jesus, Take the Wheel, Again

A dishonest used car salesman is caught and must return money to customers with some surprising results.

In the movie, the salesman "gives" his car lot to the Lord.

Later I read...

Any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:33

Or from The Message ...

Simply put, if you're not willing to take what is dearest to you,

whether plans or people, and kiss it good-bye, you can't be my disciple.

How do we do that? Give things to the Lord?

Sometimes it seems to me that I give it up,

then the next day it looks like I've taken it back.

I really think the key is in daily giving everything to the Lord.

Anytime we sense we've taken back the wheel, confess it, ask forgiveness, then dedicate it back to Him again.

I don't think God minds that.

It's just a sign of our human weakness.

There's definitely a cost to being a disciple though, right?

But there are many advantages. Here's just one...

Jesus told His disciples they should always pray and not give up.

In a certain town there was a judge and a woman kept coming to him demanding justice.

The woman bothered the judge so much he finally gave in.

Jesus says, "Will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night?"

"Will He keep putting them off?

I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly."

Here's the clincher...

"However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"

Give everything to Him.

Then believe Him to look after it.

Trust Him to work it out.

Is there something you're holding back?

Is He speaking to you right now about something?

Maybe it's your job, maybe it's your children, maybe it's your health?

Whatever it is, God is faithful.

Take Him at His Word.
