He didn’t write the song, but Ronnie Dunn says he knew the instant he heard "God Must Be Busy", he and Kix Brooks had to record it.
"The song is so compelling and it’s so real.
And it talks about things that are relevant to what we’re all experiencing," says Ronnie.
Ronnie admits he was disheartened that some people misinterpreted the song’s lyrics as suggesting God is too busy to respond to people’s prayers.
"It’s a song about one simple man’s enduring faith and humility," he says.
"He humbly acknowledges that his personal prayer seems small in light of the world’s turmoil and tragedies,
but also respects that - despite it all - God is always available to answer even the smallest of prayers."
Last night I heard something that made sense...
Not "ought to pray".
Rather "driven to pray".
Sadly the church does not fully recognize prayer's importance.
While praying last night, the thought came...
It's not my sister, not my brother, but it's me, O Lord,
standing in the need of prayer.
Sadly we're not at the point of desperation yet.
"Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief," can just as easily be worded,
Lord, I pray. Help my unprayerfulness.
We say we depend totally on the Lord.
Then we go and try and do things on our own.
O, for a deeper, deeper work, Lord, in our hearts.
Open our understanding.
I think understanding is key.
So often we just don't get it.
Prayer is essential.
Prayer is where we battle.
Battle the attacks.
Battle the different agendas flying around out there.
Battle for the needs of others.
Not only must God be busy...
He must also be sad at the lack of prayer.
