Don't Worry

I'm a little concerned about a work situation in the near future.

At church this morning we sang "safe and secure from all alarms".

Thank You, Lord! I receive that!

Later the message was on worrying or, rather, not worrying.

1) God will see you through.

Focus on that versus worrying about what might happen.

2) Focus on the unseen realm.

I love this portion of scripture from 2 Kings 6:16-17

"Don't be afraid," the prophet answered.

"Those who are with us are more than those who are with them."

And Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes so he may see."

Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes,

and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather,

we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.

For the things we see now will soon be gone,

but the things we cannot see will last forever.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

3) Focus on the fact that God is in control.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good

of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 8:28

Here's some more worry-free verses...

O Lord, rescue me from evil people.

Preserve me, deliver me from those who devise evil plans.

Those who plot evil. Those who imagine mischiefs in their heart.

Those who stir up trouble all day long.

Protect me from men of violence.

The proud have set a trap to catch me,

they have stretched out a net.

They have hidden a snare for me.

Here comes the good part...

I said to the Lord,"You are my God!"

Listen, O Lord, to my cries for mercy!

Hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord.

My strong deliverer. My strong Saviour. The strength of my salvation.

You protect me on the day of battle.

Do not let their evil schemes succeed, O God.
